DLSU liberal arts programs, from page 1 series of 2013. Late last year, the commission also cited the Psychology and Political Science programs as a Center of Excellence and Center of Development, respectively. CHED awards Center of Excellence and Center of Development to public and private higher education institutions that have exhibited world-class teaching, extension, and research standards in particular disciplines. Identified centers may avail of financial assistance from the commission to further improve and develop their academic programs in terms of student scholarships, faculty development, and instructional materials development, to name a few. We are honored to receive these added centers of excellence from CHED, and we express our gratitude to the faculty, staff, and other personnel who made this possible, said CLA Dean Dr. Julio Teehankee. Being given such distinctions is a testament to the universitys vision of having world-class liberal arts programs. Before the start of this school year, the commission handed out the plaques of recognition to the designated centers: Dr. Dinah Roma Sianturi, Literature; Dr. Josefina Mangahis, Filipino; Dr. Ma. Divina Gracia Roldan, Political Science; Dr. Roseann Tan-Mansukhani, Psychology; and Dr. Aime Guarino, Counseling and Educational Psychology were all present during the event to represent their respective departments. According to the memorandum orders, the designation of the five DLSU programs as Centers of Excellence and Development are valid until May 31, 2014.
