May 17, 2013 Dear Mrs. Jones, How are you?

I am doing well this year as a senior at Dunbar high school. I am writing to thank you for all the support you have given me the past three years as my English teacher at Henry Clay high school. I have improved my writing skills with your help and have even started writing short stories now due to all the support you have offered me the previous three years when I was young and naive and was untrusting in my writing skills. I have improved my vocabulary by reading news articles and magazines that I enjoy as you suggested, and now actually tutor kids in my neighborhood to improve their vocabulary and teach them basic grammar. I have also stopped my notorious usage of double negatives and correct my parents every time they use it. My spelling has improved for the better too. I type now instead of writing by hand just to make sure my spelling is correct although I do read books and improve my spelling too. I have also started proofreading my work as you suggested and now I am able to correct by mistakes before turning in assignments in class. Did you know that reading your work out loud will help you to spot your mistakes easily? I recently learned that at the behest of my new English teacher in school. I however wrote this letter to extend my gratuity to your for all the moral support you have provided me when I though I was an atrocious writer and for all the quick and easy tips you have provided me to not only become a better reader and writer, but to also become a better person overall. Sincerely, Kamalesh Ramesh
