Dear Mr. Aten: I am interested in applying for the third grade teaching position at Jackson Elementary School in the Greeley-Evans School District. I heard about the vacancy through the website of the school district. I will graduate from Oklahoma State University in May of 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. When I graduate, I will have completed a student teaching experience in the classroom of a similar age group. I will also have a valid teaching license in both Oklahoma and Colorado. In my collegiate career, I have held leadership positions that have provided me with necessary experience in the field of education. I was the new member educator for my sorority, a job that entailed coordinating the education of 75 new members and following a set curriculum. I was also the vice president of Oklahoma States chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota, a national education organization. Both positions gave me valuable experience with communication, organization, and managing groups of peers. I also have experience in tutoring through a position with the Learning and Student Success Opportunity Center at OSU. This position was beneficial to honing the skills that I will use as an educator. I am passionate about working with children to help them grow through education and I hope to have that opportunity at your school.
