From the external sides, marketing demands and environmental concerns influence logistics companies to go green. Consumers have a preference for environmentally sound products although they are more expensive. In addition, people have a high environmental awareness. Therefore, they have more concerns about serious environmental problems such as the pollution of air and water. From the internal sides, over the past few years, sustainability has steadily been moving from the periphery to the heart of business, the environmental responsibility helps companies to achieve their business goals. The companies show a neutral attitude towards green logistics operations. However, the companies do try to advertise their green logistics operations. Because we think that the benefit that green logistics could bring (cutting costs, brand image) would be the main motivation for companies to choose to use green logistics. Individual logistics firms are finding a match between environmental considerations and profitability. It is becoming acceptable within the industry to adopt green measures. Sometimes they reduce costs, but more often than not they lead to more intangible benefits such as image and reputation enhancement. It is here that environmental management systems, such as ISO 14000, may offer opportunities to green the logistics industry.
