dextrin - a modified starch Dextrin is used as a thickener for some textile printing processes, and as a resist for some

direct application dyeing techniques (it generally isnt usable for immersion dyeing because it washes off too easily). It is made by partially breaking down starch to smaller molecules using acids and/or heat. There are several different dextrins with different properties. Dextrin may also called British gum, but some workers regard them as distinct.
