The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be made up of four standardised modes of data which are numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, Kanji or by supported extensions virtually any kind of data. QR Codes carry information both horizontally and vertically. So, QR codes are capable of encoding the same amount of data in approximately one-tenth the space of a traditional bar code. QR codes have error correction capability. Using the Error Correction Algorithm, data can be restored even if the symbol is partially dirty or damaged. Many websites offer the creation of QR codes free of cost. QR codes can be scanned using smart phones. The growing application of QR code can be judged from the fact that they are being used in advertisements in newspapers as well as by the government in the Aadhar card. The main application of QR code is for marketing a product. We conclude that the increasing application of QR code is due to its fast response, no cost and the fact that it can encode any type of data.
