CONCLUSIONS

CHAP 5

Our this small effort was very valuable in learning different aspects and steps from the design to fabrication of the pressure vessel. The design is the basic and very critical stage of the procedure. 80% work should be done on the design and development of the vessel. Once its completed fabrication of the vessel could be a piece of cake. During fabrication one has to take care of many things which are mentioned in the project. The errors came during the research work were human errors because things if done in more managed way results could have been better. Background knowledge of welding was adequate for the performance of sound welding but the desired properties could not be attained firstly because of the low communication with welder, secondly welder was not certified which created complications. Other than this oxy fuel cutting should have been avoided or if done than immediate PWHT should have been done. The strength difference between the specimens was obvious as specimen B was intentionally made defective, so that comparative study could be done easily. But overall results were not satisfactory as mechanical testing results were below average. Many aspects were discussed which would have played their role for this low result. Some aspects of problems got clear after studying the microstructure which truly tells that what actually happened at the micro level. Despite all the problems faced and accessed these problems will become a strong base for us while working in the fabrication industry. One more thing that is worth mentioning is there is lot of differences or stages between theory and practical. And a practical is useless until not done with your own hand. When a work done by one self than things start getting clear that how it is studied and how to be applied.
