AYSO Team Parents (This is given out at the team packet pickup= 8/21, 6:00-8:00pm, Crowley Park 749 Huber Lane) Team Parent Coordinator, (teamparentcoordinator@glenviewayso.org) Team Parent Responsibilities & General Information

Thank you for volunteering to be your child's soccer Team Parent. This memo will give you specific instructions on what to do, and should answer most of the questions that you or your team families may have. If you have not done so already, you will need to sign up as a new or returning volunteer and take the AYSO Safe Haven training if you have not already.

1. All volunteers must register each year. Got to www.eayso.org Click on: or 2. * New adult volunteers ONLY: Click on Print Form and print 1 copy of the form. Mail this form and a copy of your drivers license Glenview AYSO, PO Box 772 Glenview, IL 60025 (or bring to packet pick up, U-5 parent meeting or any U-5 Game)
You must be certified in Safe Haven. This is a one-time training. If you have already been certified in a previous year, you do not need to do so again. This training can be taken online (see below). 1. Getting Started: IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO CALL YOUR TEAM COACH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to introduce yourself, make arrangements to get their information packets to them, and to obtain information, such as first practice location and time. Arrange with your coach who will call each family; some coaches may like to call and introduce themselves while others will ask the team parent to call. Either way, contact the players families as soon as possible and let them know which team they're on, the names and phone numbers of both the coach and team parent, and any other information you and the coach wish to convey. If you find a player on your roster that is not planning on playing soccer this season, ASAP please email: boys_team_formation@glenviewayso.org or girls_team_formation@glenvieways.org Playing Locations: Teams play at three locations (Kindergarten and up Girls Saturday/Boys Sunday - Noon to 5:00pm, U-5 play Saturday morning at Gallery, boys at 9:00am, girls at 10:30): Gallery Park: U-5 Kindergarten and first grade Flick Park: second, third and fourth grades Attea School: fifth grade and up (U-14 and up play on Sundays Attea Home field but travel to other areas for games as well) Consult your team schedule for your specific location and field. Information: A. Enclosed in this packet: Included in your packet are team rosters, and other relevant information to share with the coach and each family on your team. Feel free to make copies of the rosters and distribute them to your team families. B. Available online: In an effort to minimize our impact on the environment, we are providing some materials on the glenviewayso.org website including schedules, the refreshment/net duty form and a sample letter you can use for the team families. - Schedules can be accessed on the Glenview AYSO website at (available 9/1 at latest): http://glenviewayso.org/schedules.html - The refreshment/net duty form and sample letter for families can be downloaded from the Volunteers page of the glenviewayso.org website at: http://glenviewayso.org/volunteers.html Please ensure that each family has a roster, a completed refreshment/net duty form (see item E below) and a family letter providing specifics about practices/ball sizes/etc. at the team's first practice. They must have them before the first game of the season. C. Kindergarten Schedules: Scheduled game times indicate the start of practice with the game time

beginning one-half hour later. Players should show up 15 minutes before game time so they are ready to go on the field at their scheduled time. D. Refreshments: Access the refreshment/net duty form online. You can use this form to assign refreshment and net duty dates. Simply complete the form and ensure each family has a copy (either hard copy or electronic). Water or juice is recommended. Please remember to offer the coaches and referees cold drinks as well. Snacks - please try to keep them healthy =- and please ask your parents if their children have any food allergies. E. Nets: For fields at Gallery Park (Kindergarten and First) Your online schedule indicates which fields your team will be playing on this season. Each week that your team is scheduled for the FIRST game on a field, your team is responsible for putting up one of the goals. Please assign two families to show up 1/2 hour early to help with this task. In addition, each week that your team is scheduled for the LAST game on a field, the team is responsible for taking down one goal. Please do not assign coaches to net duty! For your reference, net duty instructions for Gallery Park are available on the Volunteers section of the glenviewayso.org website. 4. 5. Uniforms: Please distribute uniforms prior to the first game. Your team will use the same uniforms for both the fall and spring seasons. Shin Guards: Shin guards are MANDATORY for all players at games and at practices. It is also required that stockings completely cover the shin guards (e.g. put on the shin guards, and then the stockings; putting on the stockings, then the shin guards, and rolling down the extra material over the shin guard is NOT allowed). Jewelry: Wearing of any jewelry INCLUDING EARRINGS (even if newly pierced) is strictly prohibited. This also applies to hard hair ornaments and watches. Please remind the players and their parents of this rule at the first practice. Cancellation of Games: The general policy is that games WILL be played; rain or shine. Teams should assume that games will be played and proceed to the field. The website (glenviewayso.org) and voicemail (729-AYSO) will be updated in the event games are cancelled. If games have been canceled, it is then your responsibility to notify the coach first, and then all the team families. Similar applies if your team has signed up for a practice session with a UK Trainer. Team Composition: If you are asked about this, remind parents that many factors, including geography, team balancing, volunteer staff and receipt of registration, are carefully considered prior to assigning teams. Practice Safety: For proper supervision per AYSO Safe Haven, at least two adults must be present at all practices. At least one of the adults must be the same gender as the players. Most teams have the Coach, an Assistant Coach and/or an observing parent present at all practices. If this is not the case for your team, you should discuss this with your Coach. It may be necessary to ask a parent to stay at each practice. In case of an emergency, there must be someone to deal with the emergency, and another to be responsible for the rest of the players. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS PROCEDURE BE FOLLOWED.
