Investigation Experimental Procedure 1 : 1. Which of the solution is positive control ?

Positive control for Benedict test are onion juice, potato juice and glucose solution. Positive control for Iodine test is starch solution. 2. Which is reducing sugar, sucrose or glucose ? How do you know ? Reducing sugar is glucose because the Benedicts colour changes form blue to red. 3. Which contains more reducing sugar, potato juice or onion juice ? How do you know ? Onion juice contains more reducing sugar because the Benedicts colour changed to green which is the colour is less darker than Benedicts colour on potato juice. 4. What does this tell you about how sugars are stored in onions and potatoes ? Onions are a type of vegetable. Both onions and potatoes store sugars in the form of starch. Potatoes only have a very small amount of naturally occurring sugar. However, are high in carbohydrates. The carbs in potatoes come from the starch and fiber in it. Onions also do not have a lot of sugar, but what they have is stored in the form of starch.
