Our beautiful library is facing massive budget cuts once again. In 2009 the City cut funding by nearly 500 thousand dollars, the staff made many changes and sacrifices to make sure that those cuts did not disrupt services. Now the talk is further cuts, as much as 700 thousand dollars Our library cannot sustain these drastic cuts we are asking folks to join us and help us Save Our Library Tell the Mayor and the City Council to properly fund our library. Current discussions envision: Cuts that will reduce or eliminate reading programs for children Cuts that will eliminate all evening hours of operation and weekend hours of operation. Cuts that will undermine displaced workers trying to gain new skills so they can get a job These cuts do not have to happen. Where there is a political will, a way can be found to increase revenue.
