    At time of writing the Dec '13 EUA Contract was at 4.25. European power is the highest since the unseasonable cold spell we had in April. German baseload delivery for today is down 1.50 from Tuesday to 50/MWh. Generally, Europaen consumers turn on air conditioning at 18 degrees Celsius and Temperatures in Germany and France are forecast for 24 and 22 degrees respectively. Carbon prices are buoyed by utilities returning to the market with a vengence. Vatenfall, one of the largest European utilities have increased long term power hedges by 50% year on year. As carbon will be a component of the hedge, this may well indicate the start of a bullish run if European utilities follow suit. A bullish price movement may well be on the cards today as traders cite the auction gap today as reason enough for an upswing. The media has reported that Nations are casting doubt over whether or not a global climate deal can be reached by 2015. This comes just 18 months after pledging that a global deal would be formulated by 2015 and put into action bt 2020 at the Climate Conference in Copenhagen.
