HOW WE STARTED

CHURROMANIA has been a success story since its beginnings in 1997 when Ariel Acosta-Rubio, Maria Alejandra Bravo and Miguel Bravo decided to open a Churro & Co ee store in a high tra c mall retail space that Ariel owned in Puerto La Cruz Venezuela. Initially many concepts were considered for this space including a beauty parlor, a travel agency and a hamburger restaurant but nally they jointly decided that a retail concept selling Churros was easier to manage and operate than any of the other ideas considered. Easier said than done. The rst weeks were plagued with problems related to the churro cooking process and achieving the correct our mix which proved to be a challenge. Many of these problems eventually became best practices out of the intense learning process. Fortunately during these initial weeks of operation they were also blessed with long lines of customers attracted by the delicious Churro aroma waiting to buy their childhood favorite treat. The little Churro joint quickly developed a cult-like following. Press paid attention. It took Ariel just a few weeks of operations to understand that they had a winning business concept with a great franchising potential. During the next 9 months Ariel, Maria Alejandra and Miguel perfected their Churro Franchise, Operations and Business Model. They also opened a 2nd store just 9 months after the rst opening. CHURROMANIA has reinvented churros by o ering a new variety of avors, combinations and presentations that position the brand as a unique specialty food concept shared by children and adults alike any time of day. CHURROMANIA has positioned the Churro for mass consumption. Late in 1998 CHURROMANIA began o ering franchise opportunities. In just under 15 months, the company sold franchise options for over 15 units. The overwhelming success of franchising a CHURROMANIA Store made national news in articles and trade publications. After opening in a few countries the founders decided to open a store at the Dolphin Mall in Miami Florida early in 2001 as a pilot to test Churros in the US Hispanic market and it was a huge success. There are now 15 stores open in South Florida most of them in major malls and some in Walmart Stores. Several franchises have been sold for Houston, and Dallas, TX. Now, over 16 years after the rst store opened, there are over 120 locations and over 25 units in development for 2013. CHURROMANIA continues to receive media attention and has grown a cult-like following in all the countries it operates in. CHURROMANIA also provides business consulting support. This will help to ensure operations run smoothly and that the brand concept is marketed e ectively. CHURROMANIA will also provide further guidance for developing training programs along with management and development assistance.
