Histogram& graph Q1 A manufacturing company produces boxes of matches.

The number of matches in 50 boxes is counted and the results are given below. Number of matches (x) 40 s x < 45 45 ^ x<50 50 * x < 60 60 x < 75 Number of boxes 7 10 24 29

(i) Using 2cm to represent 10 matches on the horizontal axis and a column of height 12cm to represent the 50 < x < 60 group, draw on graph paper, a histogram to illustrate the distribution of matches. (ii) From your histogram, find (a) the modal class of the distribution. (b) as estimate of the number of boxes containing 48 or more matches, (iii) Write down the mid-values of the four groups of number of matches. (iv) Hence, showing your working, calculate, correct to 2 significant figures. (a) an estimate of the mean number of matches per box, (b) an estimate of the standard deviation of the number of matches per box. Q2. There are four grades of workers in a certain factory. The table below shows the number of workers in each grade in 1978 and in 1988.

Calculate, in degrees, the sector angles of the pie chart. Draw the pie chart, using a circle of radius 5 cm, labeling each sector with the item it represents. Calculate, to 2 significant figures, the radius of a comparable pie chart which could be used to represent the data for 1988.

A salesman recorded the distances, D km, that he traveled each day for 60 working days. The distance were grouped as shown in the table below. Distance traveled( D Km) Number of days

Using 2cm to represent a distance of 20km on the horizontal axis and a column of height 8cm to represent the 40 D < 60 group of distance, draw on graph paper a histogram to illustrate the distribution of distance traveled each day by the salesman. (ii) From your histogram, find the modal class of the distribution. (iii) Write down the mid-values of each of the five groups of distances. (iv) Hence, showing all your working, calculate (a) an estimate of the mean distance traveled each day by the salesman. (b) an estimate, correct to 3 significant figures, of the standard deviation of the distance traveled each day by the salesman.
