    Dengue is an infection caused by a virus transmitted by the bite of a tropical mosquito. The female Aedes mosquito transmits the dengue virus to humans when taking a blood meal. Common symptoms of dengue include high fever, severe headaches, joint and muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, and a skin rash. Dengue ranges from mild to severe and in some cases can be life-threatening. There is no vaccine or specific treatment for dengue, but early detection and access to proper medical care lowers the risk of severe complications.
