1) In ETABS, press FILE - EXPORT - Save story as SAFE V12 as shown below

2)Below window will appear. Select BASE in story to export. Then select 2nd option select floor loads and loads from above Then select all load cases and spectra. Thus f2k file will be generated.

3)Then open SAFE, Press File - Import - SAFE f2k file. Select the f2k file.

4)The file will be imported and will look as below.

5)Right click on the main window and select Add/modify grids

6)Then press Modify/show system

7)Below window will appear. Select all grid line as shown below and press delete. Make sure you tick on hide gridlines. Press OK

9)Press Set Display Options as shown below. Window will appear, in that make sure you untick INVISIBLE. Press OK

11)Next, we have to define Materials. Press Define - Materials as shown below.

12)Below window will appear, select C30 and press Modify/show material.

13)Below window will appear. Put the values as shown in circle. Press OK

14)Then select CSA-C30.18Gr400 and press Modify/show Material

15)Below window will appear. Put the values as shown in circle. Press OK

16)Thus, material is defined. Now we have to define Slab properties Press define slab properties as shown below

17)Below window will appear. Press Add new property as shown in circle.

18)Below window will appear. Put values as shown in the circle. Press OK-OK. Thus Slab is also defined.

19)Now, we have to defin soil subgrade. Press Define - Soil subgrade properties as shown below.

20)Below window will appear. Click on Modify/Show property

21)Below window will appear. Put the value of Subgrade Modulus as 250000 (SBC/permissible displacement ie 1000/0.004 = 250000). Press OK - OK
