where h = Height of building, in m. This excludes the basement storeys, where basement walls are connected with the ground floor deck or fitted between the building columns. But it includes the basement storeys, when they are not so connected. EXAMPLE 3: As per IS code the following example is including the basement. The figure shows a store house building consisting a GF,Mazzanine and 8 repeated floors and two basements. Live load and floor heights are shown in elevtion. Due to EQ loads it is required to : a. Calculate the story shear at each floor level and draw its distribution on the height of the building. b. Find the BMs and SFs acting at base level.
