FUNDACIN! TOTAs! Ear! &! Hearing! care! services! have! received! a! major! boost! in! the! past! couple! of! months! with! the! arrival! of! Dr.! Yakov! Lpez,! an! ENT!specialist.!Dr.!Lpez,!who!is!here!on!a!12Omonth!contract,!began!work! on! the! 2nd! of! May! and! we! have! experienced! a! sharp! upturn! in! patient! numbers! as! a! result,! with! most! consultancy! sessions! oversubscribed.! Furthermore,!Dr.!Lpez!has!been!able!to!put!our!operating!theatres!to!good! use,!performing!several!surgical!procedures!since!his!arrival.! ! Dr.! Lpez! has! come! into! the! fold! just! as! Dr.! Cleny! Montao! is! preparing!to!leave!FT!to!train!as!an!ENT!specialist!in!Paraguay.!Dr.!Montao! has!extensive!ENT!experience,!having!worked!here!since!2010,!and!is!now! in!a!position!to!be!able!to!receive!specialist!training.!He!leaves!for!Paraguay! in!July!with!a!view!to!returning!to!FT!in!2017.! ! Staffing! changes! have! also! taken! place! in! administration,! in! anticipation!of!the!Holt!familys!impending!sixOmonth!UK!furlough.!Georgina! Galarza,! who! had! been! working! partOtime! while! overseeing! FTs! Oye! Bolivia! Ear! &! Hearing! care! programme,! has! taken! over! the! position! of! Human!Resources!Director!from!Kenny!Holt!on!a!fullOtime!basis.!!

In! May,! the! football! season! began! for! Trinidads! youth! teams! and,! once! again,! four! teams! from! our!football!school!programme!are!representing! Fundacin!Tota!this!year,!taking!to!the!field!in!a! spirit!of!respect!and!fair!play,!values!which!are!at! the! core! of! the! football! and! basketball! programmes!run!by!FT.! ! The! Sports! workers! are! also! gearing! up! for! the! Kids! Games! programme! later! this! year! (see! September! 2012s! edition)! and! were! involved! in! an! intensive! training! weekend! as! part! of! their! preparations,! from! the! 14th! till! the! 16th!of!June.!A!team!from!Santa!Cruz!visited!FT!to! train!12!people!from!all!over!Trinidad,!while!the! five!FT!workers!who!had!already!undergone!this! training! were! equipped! to! run! training! programmes!themselves.!! ! The! weekend! culminated! in! a! oneOoff! Kids! Games! session! in! one! of! Trinidads! most! impoverished! communities,! and! the! team! were! thrilled! to! be! able! to! minister! to! over! 110! children.!! ! FTs! Kids! Games! programme! resumes,! GodOwiling,! this! coming! September,! and! those! involved! over! the! training! weekend! are! looking! forward! to! putting! the! invaluable! training! into! practice.!!

FTs! Intermediate! English! class! began! in! May,! with! students! wishing! to! develop! in! their! English! skills! receiving! a! reading! lesson!every!week!focused! on! the! gospel! message,! in! addition! to! the! standard! language!lesson.! ! FTs! educational! workers! have! also! been! busy! visiting! churches! to!

promote! the! Emmaus! distanceOlearning!Bible!study! materials,! an! invaluable! tool! in! evangelism! and! in! making! disciples!in!our!community.!

! Since! then,! we! have! been! joined! by! Joe! Sturman! (UK),! a! secondOyear! medical! student! at! Birmingham! University,! who! will! be! putting! his! skills! to! use! as! a! volunteer! in! Health.! Joe! arrived! in! Trinidad! on! the! 19th!of!June!and!will!be!with! us!until!the!18th!of!July.!

WE! WERE! delighted! to! welcome! FT! UK! president! Alan! Cunningham! and! his! wife,!Ethel,!who!visited!us!in! April.! Though! primarily! here!to!spend!time!with!son! and!daughterOinOlaw!Craig!&! Amanda! Cunningham,! the! visit! afforded! them! an! excellent!opportunity!to!see! the!work!of!FT!at!firstOhand.!
