LORD OF THE FLIES.

The book Lord of the flies shares many things in common with The Vietnam War..

So, what was the Vietnam War?

It was a conflict, starting in 1954 and ending in 1975, between South Vietnam (later aided by the U.S., South Korea, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, and New Zealand) and the Vietcong and North Vietnam.

What about Lord of the Flies?

It is a book written by William Golding published on September 17 of 1954. It has won a Nobel prize and several other awards.

The book is about a group of English boys (between the ages between of 6 12) stuck on a deserted island during a nuclear war. During the time they are in the island, they try building their own society with their own rules. The results are not positive.

We chose to compare and contrast the Vietnam War with the scene in Chapter 9 where Simon was killed by the boys.

On chapter 9, Simon finds out that there was never such things as a beastie or snake like thing. It was the shadow of a dead human. So he goes to the beach to tell the boys about what he found. But his timing is really bad. When Simon arrives, everyone was caught up in a frenzy mood.

The boys, who were chanting and dancing in separate circles, confused Simon with the beast. They tear apart Simon with their bare hands and teeth. Simons body gets washed away by the strong waves. Next day, Ralph and Piggy realize what they have done to Simon.

COMPARE & CONTRAST.

Contrast
No authority in lord of the flies but in Vietnam war there was authority over the soldiers.

2. Lord of the flies: killed simon with bare hands Vietnam war: killed with weapons.

3.-Lord of the flies: killed someone of their own people.

-Vietnam war: killed their enemies and prisoners.

The end
