ARTICLE REVIEW M-Learning in distance education libraries:A case scenario of Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU)
The value of mobile technologies has made a real time contribution to not only human life but also in teaching and learning.Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU) has a motto of education anywhere and anytime and to achieve this the university has initiated the concept of m-education for the development content for student.IGNOU university acts as a National Resource Center and functions as a leading apex body to promote,coordinate and maintain standards of distance education across the world.M-education is a new paradigm in the history of IGNOU with use of mobile and wireless technologies for its distance education system.IGNOU encouraging peer collaboration over wireless mobile devices,PDAs and hand held devices to create opportunities for discovery and education among the distance education community.In view above IGNOU,in collaboration with Communication and Manufacturing Association of India(CMAI) and other players in contemplating providing educational content to student through text,audio and video on mobile phone.Learners will soon be able to access IGNOUs content on mobile over broadband as the university has tied up with city based time broadband which is launching Internet Protocol Television(IPTV) services in the

country.IGNOU with its latest initiative of SMS service wants to harness the power of SMS to support students in their endeavors to solve their problems which are time consuming.SMS has a broader site to converges with IPTV mode to let learners interact with their coordinators almost instantly.The Library and Documentation Division at IGNOU is making all efforts to take higher education at the doorsteps of the hitherto to unreached through its various modes of information and Document Delivery Services.
