NYMAZ SEND Music Network Gathering

Programme
Sounds of Intent is a new way of assessing and recording a childs musical development. It is an easy to use (and totally free!) internet package that enables teachers, musicians and others to assess what level a child is at and to track their progress. It is designed specifically to map the musical development of children and young people with additional or complex needs. We will explore the framework in three different interactive sessions.
Sounds of Intent Vicky Hubbard, Music Specialist at St Lukes Primary Special School in Scunthorpe, was one of the earliest adopters of the framework and will give an illustrated overview of how it works. Making Music Accessible Mike Sissons who teaches at The Dales School in Northallerton will explore ways to provide access to music for learners with severe learning difficulties and disabilities. Sensory Music Ros Hawley, will explore what multi-sensory music might mean through a series of practical activities. She will look at how and why thinking about music in this way can be an important approach in aiding communication, interaction and engagement.

There will also be opportunity to meet others and spend time exchanging ideas and thoughts. We hope that you will leave the afternoon with a series of practical resources and ideas which are of immediate use to you in your daily practice.
