Summary

Its Thanksgiving break at exclusive Waverly Academy and everybody's feeling

thankful…for the long weekend. New friends Jenny Humphrey and Tinsley
Carmichael are determined to snap Callie Vernon out of her depressing weeks
since her boyfriend Easy Walsh was kicked out of school, and they're sick of her
moping. The plan is head to NYC!

But the girls quickly discover that a quiet holiday is not in store for them. A cozy
Thanksgiving dinner turns into a three-day party with a few of their classmates
and some irresistible guests. Jenny meets Mr. Right, but is determined not to fall
in love for the fourth time this fall. Tinsley has her own holiday mission: to win
back adorable freshman Julian McCafferty. And Callie is holding out for Easy…
which is hard to do with a cute college boy following her around. Brett
Messerschmidt is missing in action–forced to spend Thanksgiving in her family's
tacky Jersey Mansion. But with a surprise guest at the dinner table, drama's on
the menu. And maybe love too and just forget turkey and stuffing. When you're
an It Girl, a holiday is just another excuse to stay up all night in the city that
never sleeps

Main characters

Callie Vernon spends Thanksgiving at Yvonne's with Tinsley and Jenny. She's
counting the seconds until she can see Easy on the top of the Empire State Building
(an affair to remember). Easy, from the previous book, got kicked out of Waverly
and now goes to military school. He left her a note in her jeans to meet him on the
top of the Empire State Building on Thanksgiving. At the party, Callie meets Ellis, a
cute Brad Pitt look-alike college dude, and her mind gets taken off of Easy for the
first time since, well forever. When she meets Easy on the Empire State Building,
she breaks up with him because its just been too long, and with Ellis on her mind,
realizes it’s for the best.

Jenny Humphrey is determined NOT to fall in love for the fourth time this year. She
ditches her 'Hare Krishna' dad and goes with Tinsley and Callie to Yvonne's party.
While there, she meets Casey, a cute college guy who sweeps her off her feet. She
and Tinsley become closer, after giving her Julian advice, and in the end are on the
verge of being BFFs.

Tinsley Carmichael sees Julian, her first true love, at Yvonne's party. She gets
advice from Jenny that she should show Julian what a good person she is. Her plans
are ruined when her even bitchier freshmen roommate, Sleigh, comes back with her
eye on Julian. In the end, Julian sees Tinsley's, and Sleigh's, true colors and him and
Tinsley are supposedly together.

Brett Messerschmidt is spending Thanksgiving at home in Jersey where her older

sister, Bree's, boyfriend and parents are visiting. Brett hates her parents and brings
out her parents true colors to scare him off. In the process, she hurts Sebastian's
feelings, but makes up for it. There is a definite attraction between them.

Brandon Buchanan is spending thanksgiving at Waverly Academy, after being

dumped by Sage Francis for being "too feminine". So Brandon, along with Heath
Ferro decides to find the "legendary" Swedish Twins to help Brandon to become
"manlier." He hooks up with Helga, and Heath with Gretchen, but Heath, as it
reveals still has a crush on Kara.

Easy Walsh has no perspective throughout this entire book, but can be seen at the
end, on top of the empire state building, after being dumped by Callie.

...
I think that my favorite character is Tinsley because she is smart, confident
and also has a strong personality. Although I don’t really posses her same
personality traits I do still enjoy her character. She always has good
comments and sayings during the book and she always thinks she is cooler
or somewhat better than everyone else, I truly want her confidence.

These books are my total guilty reading pleasure. I know I'm younger than the
characters or the intended audience but there's just something about the stories
that I just can't quit stop reading. I know the characters all act in ways they
shouldn't and are doing illegal things and spend way more money than anyone
should. However the writing is fast paced and you really get into the story. If you
haven't read any of the books in this series before, you should probably start from
the beginning as many past events get brought up a lot.

It was a nice change of pace to FINALLY see Tinsley and Jenny become friends. I was
kind of getting tired of Tinsley acting stuck up and mean to Jenny for stupid little
reasons. I was also sad that the four girls didn't get to hang out together but all of
the stories were good. I really like Brett's adventures back home. That would have
been a hoot to see. It's a nice change of pace to see her out of her element and
defending her family even though she's been hating them all this time. I actually
kind of hope Tinsley and Julian (I love that name) get back together. He seemed like
the one person who makes her act human. I was rather disappointed by the
Easy/Callie story. There could have been so much more to that and with all their
history, it just rises up so dramatically and then falls flat.

My only real gripe is since Jenny returns back to NYC it would have been nice to see
some cameos from the original Gossip Girl gang. I know they're in college but
wouldn't they be home for break? It would have been fun to see Serena, Vanessa,
Nate or Chuck just waltz by in the story and to have Tinsley meet with them and see
some interaction. I would have loved to see the most popular girl at Waverly meet
her match with the most popular girl at Constance Billard. But alas I don't think
that'll ever happen. I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to happen next with
the foursome. Hopefully everyone will stay friends for at least one more book. Now I
won’t lie, I think this book is similar to gossip girl and that show is directed towards
girls and this one is obviously directed towards girls as well.

Well if there is a message, it’s too complex because I honestly don’t know
what it is. The book is basically all gossip and boys and break up so I’m
guessing the message isn’t very power full. The passage that I will read next
for you is the first chapter of the book and it is Brett studding in the library
with Sebastian.

She was tempted to snatch a copy of the The New Yorker to read on the train
ride home, but she’d already picked up a People magazine at the drugstore
in town, and right now the idea of reading about other people’s problems
was far more appealing. “So much for impressing the college boys”. Before
she could slap the table to remind Sebastian that they were studying, and
that cell phones on campus—especially in the library—were strictly
forbidden, her own phone vibrated in her quilted black Zac Posen tote with a
new text message. She snatched it out and was surprised to see the name
Bree light up under the tiny envelope. She’d be seeing her sister in a matter
of hours—she couldn’t wait to change into her hot pink Juicy Couture sweats
and veg out in front of the big-screen TV.
