Art Inspired Creative Writing

DESCRIPTION: Students enrolled in this class will have the opportunity to combine writing and art design. Students will create art pieces using various materials and methods, students will then be able to further explore their art through the means of creative writing. Students will create and produce short stories, poetry, narratives, and other forms of creative writing pertaining to their personal art creations. COURSE GOALS: Learn the basics of storytelling Discover how to tap into your creativity Understand how to write using the five senses Demonstrate the ability to create fun and inventive characters Develop strong writing skills Discover how words and pictures work together to tell a story Understand how to write fun, engaging description EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS: I expect you to complete all daily work, essays, and assignments, and to participate actively in classroom activities, in order to build skills in written and oral communication. I expect you to have materials in class and be prepared each day with a PENCIL AND PAPER. I expect you to follow the one rule for this class: Respect for others including their feelings, thoughts, writing examples, and belongings. Grading: 50% Project Completion (including Art portion and Creative Writing portion of projects). 50% Class Participation (including cooperative group work, class discussion, etc.).
