First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Freeport man for an attempted burglary that occurred in Roosevelt on Saturday, 08/17/13 at 3:45 P.M. According to detectives, Michael Brown, 39, of 42 Forest Ave., attempted to break down the door of a residence on Fulton Ave. with a pitchfork. The female victim, 58, was inside the home at the time of the burglary and notified police. victim. The defendant is known to the First Precinct Police officers responded to the scene and

located the defendant in the area, riding a bicycle. At the time of his arrest, the defendant was found to be in possession of Marijuana. Additionally, the bicycle the defendant was riding was reported stolen earlier in the day. The pitchfork was recovered. No injuries were reported. Brown is being charged with Attempted Burglary 2 nd Degree, Unlawful Possession Marijuana and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree. He will be arraigned on Sunday, 08/18/13 in First District Court, Hempstead.
