Fire is the heat and light energy released during a chemical reaction, in particular a combustion reaction.

Fire Triangle
Heat, Fuel and Oxygen together produce fire.

Enough HEAT to reach ignition temperature

FUEL to burn

Enough OXYGEN to sustain combustion

Principles of Fire Extinguishment


Fire is extinguished by removal of any one of the factors from the fire triangle.

Reducing the heat below the ignition temperature - Cooling. Removal of the fuel from the fire - Starvation. Limitation of oxygen from the fire - Smothering
