This is a short description on how to fix a non or partially operational power seat switch of a 1990 Mercedes Benz 300E

2.6, but it will be a very similar process for many other Models, especially that also have the W124 chasis. I had been driving around in an awkward position for years and decided to just try if I could fix it myself. I didnt want to spend $186 on a new switch, especially because I wasnt sure that was the problem. I took the switch out, took it apart and cleaned the contacts and put it back together and it was working as new. It only took me 30 minutes. The passenger side also had problems and I decided to do that one as well and took photos to post a manual online. Good luck, WWS 2/28/09 Ann Arbor, MI

1. Pull off buttons or use screwdriver.

2.Remove cover, screwdriver will do the job.

3.Unscrew 2 screws that hold switch in place.

4.Unplug connector and take the switch out.

5.Unscrew remaining screw and take switch apart. The switch will fall apart in many tiny pieces, so make sure you are able to collect all pieces.

6. Clean all silver colored contacts on the switch and on the 8 clips. I used Goo Gone, but other petroleum based cleaners or just a paper towel might also do the job.

7.Put the clips back in place.

8.Put the nine little balls in place.

9. Put the switch control sticks back in place. There are two with a white top and 3 with a black top, see picture. The one the head support needs to have a spring put in already.

10. Put the spring back in place.

11.Put the 8 remaining little balls on top of the springs.

12. Carefully put the cap back on, making sure all parts stay in place.

13. Screw the screw back in and the switch should be as good as new. 14. Put back in the car and test.
