What Happens when you first connect your computer to a network The computer searches for a DHCP (Dynamic

Host Control Protocol) server on your network and tries to request anIP (Internet Protocol) address. Once it achieves this process it can communicate with other devices on your network.Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is the one which enables users to
dynamically and transparently assign reusable IP addresses to clients.

Computer networking may be considered a branch of electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science, information technology or computer engineering, since it relies upon the theoretical and practical application of the related disciplines. A computer network has the following properties: Facilitates interpersonal communications People can communicate efficiently and easily via email, instant messaging, chat rooms, telephone, video telephone calls, and video conferencing. Allows sharing of files, data, and other types of information Authorized users may access information stored on other computers on the network. Providing access to information on shared storage devices is an important feature of many networks.

DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) DHCP simply a network protocol used to configure devices that are connected to a network
so they can communicate on that network using the Internet Protocol (IP).A DHCP server maintains a database of available IP addresses and configuration information. When the server receives a request from a client, the DHCP server determines the network to which the DHCP client is connected, and then allocates an IP address or prefix that is appropriate for the client, and sends configuration information appropriate for that client
