KANATA DAY FAQs

Summer Day Camp 2013


Where is Kanata Day held? YMCA Camp Kanata 13524 Camp Kanata Road Wake Forest, NC 27587 (919) 556-2661 www.campkanata.org What are the program hours? Program hours are from 7:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m. What is the staff to child ratio? 1:10 What are the session dates and themes? 1- Pirate Week June 10-14 2- Jungle Week June 17-21 3- Olympics Week June 24-28 4- Stars & Stripes Week July 1-5 5- Super Hero Week July 8-12 6- Christmas in July Week July 15-19 7- Hollywood Week July 22-26 8-Color Wars Week July 29-Aug. 2 9- Blast from the Past Week Aug. 5-9 What is a typical day? 7:30-8:45 Drop Off 8:45-9:30 Assembly 9:30-11:15 Activities & snack 11:15-12:00 Lunch Assembly/Lunch 12:00-3:00 Swim Time/Activity 3:00-4:00 Snack/Devotion/Bead Time 4:00-4:30 Closing Assembly 4:30-6:00 Pick Up What is your drop off and pick up procedure? Drop off and pick up is at Camp Kanata. Drop off begins at 7:30 a.m. and continues until 8:45 a.m. If you arrive after 8:45 a.m., please come into the Kanata Day office to sign in your child. Pick up begins at 4:30 p.m. and continues until 6:00 p.m. Enter the carpool circle. A Kanata counselor will check your Kanata pick up card or picture ID to insure that you are authorized to pick up your child. The counselor will escort your child to the car. For your safety and your childs, please remain inside your car during the pickup and drop off process. If you must pick up your child before 4:30 p.m., please drop off a written note during Rides In or call at least 1 hour in advance. When you arrive, park and come into the Kanata Day office to sign out your child. Are there any special events parents can attend? Parents and families are invited to our Family Nights June 20th, July 11th, and July 31st. Come enjoy fun and meet your childs counselors and friends. When is the Day Camp Family Orientation? Please join us Thursday June 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided. RSVP by emailing marcus.fields@campkanata.org by June 1, 2013, to let us know how many in your family will attend.

What should my child bring to camp each day? Please bring a lunch, two snacks, swimsuit, towel, and water bottle. Wednesdays are dress up days; dont forget your costume that relates to the weekly theme. If your camper is pre-registered for horseback riding (additional fee), make sure they have long pants and closed toed shoes. Please have your child wear sneakers each day. Make sure to label everything (full name) your child brings to camp. What activities do you participate in at Kanata Day? Swimming, archery, soccer, basketball, arts & crafts, gym games, field games, devotions, Wacky Wednesdays, hiking, nature studies and team sports.
