AGING OF BODY PARTS

(PART 2)

BREASTS Start ageing at 35

BY their mid-30s, women's breasts start

losing tissue and fat, reducing size and

fullness. Sagging starts properly at 40 and

the areola (area around the nipple) can

shrink considerably

FERTILITY Starts ageing at 35

Female fertility begins to decline after 35, as the

number and quality of eggs in the ovaries start

to fall. The lining of the womb may become

thinner, making it less likely for a fertilized egg to

take, and also creating an environment hostile to sperm

MALE FERTILITY Starts declining at 50

Age also has an impact on male infertility, though the result is not as severe as it is in women. As men age, the number of sperm, the motility of sperm and the percent of normal sperm all decrease slightly. Pregnancy and birth rates decline and miscarriage rates increase when the male partner is older than age 50. Despite the fact that some men can become fathers up to age 80 or older, couples should consider the effects of aging on both partners when making parenting plans and decisions

MEN'S SEXUAL FUNCTION Starts declining at 40

Men's sexual function declines with age. As his testosterone level falls, it takes more to arouse him. Once aroused, he takes longer to get an erection and to achieve orgasm and following orgasm, to become aroused again. Age brings marked declines in semen volume and sperm quality. Erectile dysfunction (ED) or impotence, is clearly linked to advancing years; studies show that between the ages of 40 and 70, the percentage of potent men falls from 60% to roughly 30%

PENIS SIZE AND LOOKS

Most men reach their adult penis length between 17 and 22 after which it stops growing. Mens penis may decrease in size with age and fat accumulation in the lower abdomen, their bulging belly tends to make the shaft of the penis look shorter. However, the penis may also undergo an actual reduction in thickness and length with age. According to Irwin Goldstein, editor-in-chief of The Journal of Sexual Medicine, if a mans erect penis is six inches long when he is in his 30s, it might be five or five-and-a-half inches when he reaches his 60s or 70s
