1882 - born in Rathgar, Dublin on February 2nd. - the oldest of ten children 1888 - began school 6~9 at Clongowes Wood College

1893 - went to Belvedere College 11~16

1899 - entered college studied modern language at University College, Dublin 1900 - Ibsen's New Drama 1901 - The Day of the Rabblement 1902 - received A.B. degree - first trip to Paris 1903 - began writing poems - Joyce's mother, Mary Jane Joyce, died

1904 - began literary career. - eloped with Nora - began A Portrait 1905 - first son, Giorgio - moved to Trieste 1907 - daughter, Lucia - first book, the poems of Chamber Music 1911 - gave lectures on Shakespeare in Trieste

1914 - Dubliners published 1915 - WWI, moved to Zurich. 1916 - A Portrait - Exiles published in US 1917 - Harriet Shaw Weaver 1918 - The serialization of Ulysses in The Little Review 1920 - moved to Paris

1922 - Ulysses published in Paris - won international fame. - began Finnegans Wake 1927 - Poems Pennyeach 1939 - Finnegans Wake 1941 - died in Zurich on January 13 at the age of 59 - buried in the Fluntern Cemetery
