How Necromancy, Ghouls & Necrophagia are related

Necromancy literally means divination by communicating with the dead. However, there are two rooted kinds of necromancy; the raising of the corpse itself, and the most common kind, the conjuring or summoning of the spirit of the corpse. Necromancy is derived from the Latin word Necromantia which means Divination from an exhumed corpse. Necro (Nekros) meaning dead body, and mancy (manteia) meaning Divination, oracle. The practice of Necromancy dates back several thousands of years ago. A Ghoul is one who delights in the revolting, morbid or loathsome. Also known as a demon or person that eats corpses. The word Ghoul being derived from ghala meaning to seize or to snatch. Legends and stories of ghouls and their sightings date back hundreds of years. Ghoul sightings may be rare but are most certainly far from uncommon. Necrophagia refers to the act or practice of feeding on dead bodies or carrion. Carrion, being derived from the Latin Caro, meaning meat and referring to the carcass of a dead animal. Most often carrion is used to describe an

infected carcass that is diseased and shouldnt be touched. Necro meaning death, corpse, and dead tissue, and Phagia (phago, phage) meaning eating, and destroying. Necromancy, Ghouls, and Necrophagia are related by the association of death. Death being the main element that binds them all together. All three having to do with the territorial workings of cemeteries, tombs, mortuaries, and places of death. They all work with some aspect of either the flesh or the spirit after death.
