REGENTS CANAL / NORTH LONDON MAREK JANKOVSKIJ

`` If you have a painting that looks to small above your sofa, do not center it. Offset it a few inches to the left. The negative space - called `MA` - becomes part of the image `` RICHARD MISHAAN

Come in No.5

Floationg exhibition space and advertisment campain.

BRIEF:
In 2020 the Regents Canal will celebrate its 200th anniversary. The canals history of connecting local communities, and beyond, through trade and business and ancillary industries has now been lost due to the improved Londons infrastructure. The studio will take an investigative approach to the environment that exists along the Regents canal where it winds through from Kings Cross through Hoxton and south Hackney, down to Lime House Basin. We are asked to create and generate ideas using an entrepreneurial spirit, map, and explore the existing materiality of the area, while simultaneously connecting to areas of interest within the community.

CONCEPT
The floating structure is focusing on the problem with waste around the canal and the canal itself, it is a structure wich will help prevent wasting in the canal and attract some sponsors to invest in the canal. The main idea is to establish constant cleaning and care for the canal. Construction is flexible and movable and can contain all sorts of events. The structure is made from steel beams which detactch and are made from recycled materials from the site.

We live in a disposable society. Its easier to throw things out than to fix them. We even give it a name - we call it recycling.
