0 2 year old lesson plan

Description of Activity: This activity involves children roaming the yard to find bits and pieces of the natural environment, they will then be taking these items and pasting them onto a piece of paper in a collage fashion, that is unique and different to each individual child. The activity is designed for 0 to 2 year olds, the activities aim is to introduce children to natural objects and to see how they interact with different materials whilst constructing a collage of these objects onto a piece of paper of their colour choice. This activity is for 2 3 children at one time

Materials:

PVA Glue White/black or coloured paper Trays Art Smocks Notes Educators should not tell the children what to pick up. Instructions 1. The educator should take 2 -3 children outside (when no other children are out). The educator should ask the children to collect things from the ground such as: leaves; sticks; small rocks; flowers.

After the children have collected a few things, the educator should take them inside; - Put an art smock on child - Ask what colour paper the child wants - Pour glue onto trays for children to use. 3. Children should be able to independently (or with assistance), dip their items into the glue and stick it onto the paper. Children should be able to pick their own colour paper as this encourages interdependence

Assistance means not to do it for them but to direct their learning for the independence of doing it themselves
