Embed Context. Often in literature at this time darkness was used to foreshadow something evil Regicide- talk about how it was horrible CONTEXT :::: In Shakespearian times, people believed in the order of being. This meant that people and animals were places in a certain order. A king was placed highly in this order therefore to kill a king was a great crime. Macbeth still has a conscious (character development) -Tormented -Ambition -Pressure from his wife (question his manhood) In Shakespearian times, people believed in witchcraft therefore the witches prophecies interested Macbeth. In contrast, Banquo who does not pursue the prophecies, is not corrupted by his own ambition. Aware it will open the door to a dark and sinful world
