    Character Word: Responsible - when others are depending on you to do something

    A Peek at Our Week:


    Reading: We will learn how Read to Someone works. We will continue building our reading stamina in Read to Self. Students will begin choosing their own good fit books for Read to Self. Math: We will begin a unit on addition to 20. Please be practicing those addition facts in your childs STAR binder! Writing: We will be establishing our Work on Writing routines and will work on writing a class story together. Science/Social Studies: We will learn about our new CATCH food and health system.

    Reminders:
    Any changes in transportation MUST be made in writing. Please use the Change of Transportation note found in your childs binder for this. Check out Edmodo.com for resources we are learning how to use in the classroom.     Sound Check:
    This week we will work on beginning and ending digraphs (ch, sh, wh, and th). If you see any words with digraphs around the house, on your drive to school, or at a restaurant or store, please point them out to your child and practice reading them.

    Sight Words and Family Words: Sight words: not, has, fun, do, play
    (all of the sight words will be on the spelling test)

    Homework Help: C.A.T.C.H. stands for Coordinated Approach To Child Health As you eat at home this week, ask your child if he/she is eating a Go, Slow, or Whoa food.

    Upcoming Events:
    9/9: Boy Scout representatives in cafeteria to hand out information 9/10: Boy Scout Parent Meeting (6:30) 9/16: Open House (5:306:30) 9/16-9/20: Fall Book Fair

    Family words: bad, dad, glad, had, lad, mad, pad, sad, Brad, Chad
    (we will choose 5 of the family words for the test on Friday)
