ANGELA DAVIS
Angela Davis grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, when it was known as Bombingham. Bombs devastated the homes of many of her neighbors as the civil rights movement advanced during the 1950s and 1960s. Angela Davis is an activist, writer and Distinguished Professor Emerita of History of Consciousness and Feminist Studies at UC Santa Cruz. Her work as an educator both at the university level and in the larger public sphere has emphasized the importance of building communities of struggle for economic, racial and gender justice.

MARGARET BURNHAM
Professor Burnham, a long-time civil rights lawyer and activist, is a member of the faculty at Northeastern University School of Law. She founded and directs the School of Laws Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project. The Project provides legal assistance to the families of the victims of homicidal racial violence during the 1940s through the 1960s.
