Ballandean back on track

The Queensland Wine Awards is the night of nights for the industry and a celebration of the people, the places and the wines of our great state. The 2013 awards turned out to be a confirmation that industry icon Ballandean Estate Wines is back on track. In her acceptance speech for the Queensland Winery of the Year trophy, client relations manager Leeanne Puglisi-Gangemi indicated that it had been a tough couple of years at Ballandean Estate with rebuilding their wine stocks after the devastating fire of 2011. This award makes all the hard work and difficult decision making of the past couple of years worthwhile she said this will give our family and team a great boost Picking up trophies for Champion Alternative Red Wine for the 2012 Saperavi, which also took out Champion Wine of the Show, as well as Champion Fortified Wine with the White Liqueur Muscat, the company also won Mario Gangemi being congratulated by Leeanne Gangemi & another Gold medal for the 2012 Malbec, a Robyn Henderson after the arrival of the Qld Wine Award Silver for Chardonnay and Bronze for the Fiano, Trophies. Viognier, SSB and White Pearl. To top the night off, Angelo Puglisi was awarded Viticulturalist of the Year and Dylan Rhymer Winemaker of the Year bringing the total number of trophies to 6. We have a great team at Ballandean said Leeanne and to have Dad and Dylan win these awards is testament to both of their hard work and dedication to their wines. They are both very deserving of this accolade and we could not be more proud The big question now is when will our customers be able to buy the award winners? Well, all of the whites are available at cellar door now, with the reds hitting the shelves in a couple of months time. Ends
