1 EXPERIMENT ON PROCESS CHART PREPERATION OBJECTIVES To prepare a process chart for the given task such as drilling a hole in a work piece, THEORY Method study is the systematic recording and critical examination of existing and proposed ways of doing work. As a means of developing and applying easier and more effective methods and reducing costs. The most commonly used recording techniques are charts and diagrams. A process chart records the activities of an operator while he is doing the job. Once the activities are recorded, they are converted to a chart using the appropriate symbols. The symbols used are:

APPARATUS Surface gauge, drill bit, work piece ,fixture, spanner etc.

PROCEDURE Observe the given work and find out the work elements. The time taken for each work element is to be observed separately. Prepare a table and record the work element and their durations in the sequence they come in the method of doing the work. Using the above symbols try to prepare a chart. Record the elements and the durations in a sheet as given in the lab. Try to observe the elements and classify the elements according to the standard classification scheme of work elements. Prepare a detailed analysis of the job by the above classification. Try to find out modifications in the method so as to eliminate the additional work content due to the undesired factors. Give an account of observation made about the job under study. OBSERVATIONS Record the observations in the form of a chart. RESULT
