B. Review of the Past Lesson Who among you here can still recall of what we had discussed last time. Very good. I will give you one star for it. C. Reading of the objectives of the new Lesson Today class, we will have a new lesson but before we will indulge to our new lesson, let me present to you our objectives of the day. Everyone, please read our objectives. These objectives set as our goal to understand our lesson well. I hope that we can attain these objectives at the end of our lesson. D. Motivation This time, we will have a game. It is a decoding game. We will know the meaning of direct speech and reported speech through decoding the meaning of these two. I will post now the letters with a corresponding symbols. Who can decode first the meaning will have a 3 stars and it will be added to your group activity afterwards. As I pull the meaning, everyone may start to decode it. Direct Speech is a qouted speech and the original statement or words of the person speaking. Reported Speech is how we report another persons words; It is how we restate what someone said. Expected answer of the students: The students read the objectives. We discussed the story entitled, The Parting by Azona Gale. Thank you, Sir.

E. Presentation of the Lesson Let us now find out what sentences are direct and reported one. Okay students, please read the sentences posted on the board. Which of the two sentences is a direct speech? Very good, so the second one is considered as a reported speech. Now, I would like everyone to go in group now. The first group who can form a circle and does the Rain Clap will get 2 stars which will be added in your groups score. Please go in your group silently, do not shout. Very Good, 2 stars for that group F. Activity # 1 Group work I am requesting all group leaders to come in front and get now your envelopes, task board and markers. Tasks: Note the difference.
Identify which is direct and reported of the ff. sentences and note the differences of it. Hint: Look at the punctuations and the italicized word in the sentences.

The teacher will let every group to choose their reporter and ask the secretary to write the names of the members of every group in an index card. The groups will be given 5 minutes to discuss and do the task given. The group who can posts their work on the board will be given 3 stars. Only 3 minutes is given for every group report. Show them the rubrics let every group rate the reporter of every group. G. Activity # 2 Group Work Now students for our next activity, I will show you a comic which is entitled, Hold Up! I would like a three volunteers to read the dialogue of the comics. Your next group task is to transform the direct speech from the bubbles of the comics to a reported one. You will be given only 5 minutes to do the task. The first group who can post their work will get 2 points again for promptness. Then, each group must have another reporter to read your group work. Each reporter is given two minutes to render their work. Rubrics: Correct answer-----------9 Delivery ------------------2 Neatness -----------------2 Promptness ---------------2 Total ---------------------15 Now students, let us count all you scores. The winning group is _______________. Let us give the winning group a nice clap. I am now requesting everyone to go back in your seats. IV. Evaluation: Direction: On a crosswise, identify what speech is the sentences below whether direct or reported speech. Then, transform the sentence into reported speech if it is a direct speech and vice versa. (15 points) 1. Lovely said, She lives in London. 2. Marites says, I am a nurse and work in a hospital. 3. My Aunt asked me to say hello to my mum. 4. He said that he liked this song. 5. Jennifer said, I like birthdays. V. Assignment: Cut out a comic with a dialogue, paste it in a short bond paper and transform at least 5 dialogues of the character.
