Memorandum

CITY OF DALLAS
Date To Subject

September 6, 2013 The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council Memo from Environmental Resources Planning, LLC Today, Friday, September 6, 2013, you may have received a memo from Environmental Resources Planning, LLC, Steven R. Stein, Principal. In this memo, Mr. Stein expresses his concerns regarding the information presented in the Update on Dealing with Carryout Bags briefing on August 21, 2013. This evening, staff from the Office of Environmental Quality contacted Mr. Stein at his office and discussed, point by point, the concerns expressed in his memo. There were reasonable explanations for the differences of opinion. Also, he said that there was no way we could have known about the data from the New Jersey study site as that information was not in the public report used by staff to produce the briefing. The August 21 briefing included only litter survey data that was available to staff in the public document used to produce the briefing. Mr. Stein plans to attend the Quality of Life & Environment Committee meeting on Monday, September 6, 2013, and he has requested a meeting with Office of Environmental Quality staff at a convenient time after the committee meeting to discuss carryout bag issues. Please let me know if you have questions or need additional information.
