DAWES PTA WELCOMES YOU BACK TO SCHOOL!

Welcome to another great school year! We hope your summer has been filled with endless fun, play, camps, beaches, pools, camping, museums, reading, travels and more. The Dawes PTA is here to help make a smooth transition from summer to school, and is dedicated to the success of all the children, families and teachers in the community. We hope you will join in on making this school year the best. HERE ARE JUST A FEW THINGS SUPPORTED BY PTA EFFORTS AND MEMBERS:
Funded a field trip for every classroom and artist-in-residence programs. and Yoga. Provided numerous scholarships to allow more students to participate.

Sponsored Book Fairs and monthly visits to Facilitated a Father-Son Bookclub and the the Bookstore. Supported Battle of the Books and the library. Sponsored Science Saturday, Creative Arts Saturday, Multicultural Fest, Family Night and Talent Show. Supported the Dawes School Garden. Sponsored cooking classes for children and parents and other Wellness Team efforts. Organized after school programs including Mad Science, Karate, NIA, Mudlark Theatre, Urban Beat Dance, Actors Gymnasium, first grade Girls Book Club. Organized 4th & 5th grade football and basketball teams. Contributed to music and PE projects. Provided meals and support to Dawes families through Friends to Families. Sponsored a Teacher Luncheon, Teacher Appreciation Week, and food for teachers during all the School Conference Days. Served days at ESCCA (Evanston School Children Clothing Association). Playground recess equipment.

How did we do all of this in previous years? With lots of help from parents like you!
With your help we can make it another great year!! Whether it is signing up to be a room parent, one hour volunteering at a special event or in a classroom, contributing a meal for the Teachers Luncheon, or chairing a committee, EACH & EVERY contribution is valued. There are many ways to show our children that we are all deeply committed to their education and making Dawes a community that cares and supports this work. Be your childs hero by giving your TIME & TALENTS to DAWES this year! Youll be glad you did. We welcome your input and creative suggestions and efforts. Bienvenidos a otro gran ao escolar! Esperamos que su verano ha estado llena de un sinfn de diversin, juego, campos, playas, piscinas, camping, museos, lectura, viajes y mucho ms. El Dawes PTA est aqu para ayudar a hacer la transicin de verano a la escuela, y est dedicado al xito de todos los nios, las familias y los maestros de la comunidad. Cmo lo hicimos todo esto en aos anteriores? Con mucha ayuda de los padres como t!
Con su ayuda podemos hacer otro gran ao! Si se trata de la firma de un padre de saln, a una hora como voluntario en un evento especial o en un saln de clases, lo que contribuye de una comida para el almuerzo de los maestros, o presidir una comisin, cada uno y cada contribucin es valorada. Hay muchas maneras de mostrar a nuestros hijos que todos estamos profundamente comprometidos con la educacin y la toma de Dawes una comunidad que se preocupa y apoya este trabajo. CONSIDER BEING A ROOM PARENT!

We are looking for parents that are interested in becoming room parents. A Room Parent is an important function, does not take up a lot of time and is a great way to get to know all of the parents in your childs class (and the teacher too!) and have some fun as well. Help improve parent teacher communication and be an important part of change and movement. Help make your childs experience the best it can be.

Responsibilities Include:
Help build a strong classroom community Welcome new families in your childs class and act as a resource for all parents in the classroom Support classroom teachers by facilitating communication with parents via phone and email Oversee classroom teacher gifts Help generate interest, enthusiasm and volunteers for school events

! FAVOR DE CONSIDERAR SER PADRE DEL AULA DE SU HIJO/A!

Estamos buscando a los padres que estn interesados en convertirse en padres de saln. Un Padre de Saln es una funcin importante, no toma mucho tiempo y es una gran manera de conocer a todos los padres en la clase de su hijo (y el profesor tambin!) y pasar un buen rato tambin. Ayudar a mejorar la comunicacin entre padres y maestros y ser una parte importante del cambio y el movimiento. Ayudar a hacer la experiencia de su nio lo mejor que puede ser. Unas de las responsabilidades son:
Ayudar a construir una comunidad fuerte dentro del aula Dar la bienvenida a familias nuevas en su aula y ser una fuente de ayuda para todos los padres de la misma Ayudar a su maestro/a comunicndose con los dems padres a travs de llamadas telefnicas o de correos electrnicos Organizar regalos de reconocimiento a su maestro/a del aula Ayudar a crear un ambiente de inters, entusiasmo y de voluntarios para los eventos de nuestra escuela
