Kinds of Sentence According To Use
A word or group of words that expresses a complete idea and that includes a subject and a verb. It is the largest independent unit of grammar. To make any sentence three things are required: Subject + Verb + Object
Examples:
I am reading a book. My favorite color is blue. He is 20 years old. I love my country. We have been here before.
Examples:
Imran is a student. He lives in a big city. The house will be built on a hill. Rice is a popular food.
Imperative Sentence:
A sentence that gives advice or instructions or that expresses a request or command. An imperative sentence usually ends with a period or an exclamation point.
Examples:
Go to your room. (An order) Please lend me your book. (A request) Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. (An advice) Begin harvesting the wheat tomorrow. (Command)
Exclamatory Sentence:
An exclamatory sentence expresses sudden and strong feelings, such as surprise, wonder, pity, sympathy, happiness or gratitude. Such sentences end with an exclamation mark.
Examples:
Boy, do I hate being right all the time! Wow, what a game! What a beautiful painting! How beautiful the waving wheat looks!
Interrogative Sentence:
A sentence that asks a question is called an interrogative sentence. Such sentences end with a question mark.
Examples:
What is your name? Where do you live? Why didn't you come to university today? When are you going to work?
