ELEMENTS, COMPOUNDS &

MIXTURES
MATERIAL CLASSIFICATION
DIFFERENTS OF ELEMENT AND
COMPOUND
 Elements can take form of single atom or
combination of two or more identificals atom.
Compounds is combination of different atom.
 Elements have same name/symbol and
properties with atom. Compound have different
properties from its atom/elements composed.
 Elements can be atom or molecule.
Compounds just can be molecule.
DIFFERENTS OF MIXTURE AND
COMPOUND
1. Compound is composed of various element
with constant ratio and mixture have
inconstant ratio of element.
2. Compound have different properties from its
composed and mixture have same properties
with its composed.
3. Compound more difficult to decomposed in to
its part substances.
ELEMENT CLASSIFICATION
 Metallic Elements
Examples :Natrium (Na): The most find element at the
sea, Lithium (Li) : Usualy find in battery, Calsium (Ca) one of
element in skeleton , Magnesium (Mg), Aluminium (Al), Besi
(Fe), Tembaga (Cu), Titanium (Ti): The material that more
strength from steel but more light, Seng (Zn), Emas (Au)

 Metalloid Elements : Examples, Boron (B), Silicon (Si)

 Non Metallic Elements

Examples : Oksigen (O) : The most find element in the
world, Nitrogen (N), Hidrogen (H), Carbon (C), Fosfor (P),
Belerang (S), Clor (Cl), Brom (Br), Iod (I)

( the differents of mettalic and non metallic elements can you

find in your LKS KIMIA at page 17 )
How to write and give manes of compound
1. If compound is composed from 1 metallic and
non metallic :
The first name came from metallic and second
name from non metallic with added by “ -ida”,
examples :
Na + Cl = NaCl = Natrium Clorida
2. If compounds is composed from 2 or more
element from non metallic :
The first name every element added with sum
of atom in yunani and the end element added
with “
–ida”
