    UMBILICAL CORD CARE

    DEFINITION
    Giving umbilical cord care in newborns umbilical cord dries up and off by itself / spontaneous.

    PURPOSES
    Prevention of infection. Accelerate the drying process of the umbilical cord. Accelerate the release of the umbilical cord

    SIGNS OF UMBILICAL CORD INFECTION


    Suppurating. Odor smells. Babies become inactive and do not cry a lot.

    UMBILICAL CORD CARE INSTRUCTIONS


    1. Always wash hands before umbilical cord care. 2. Ensure that umbilical cord stays dry. The umbilical cord stump will dry and heal faster if exposed to the air frequently, do not cover it with a diaper. 3. Ensure the hygiene. 4. Ensure that diaper do not contact the umbilical cord. 5. Make sure there is no infection. 6. Never accidentally pulling or take it off, because the umbilical cord will detach by itself. 7. Avoid things that are mystical and strange, like putting coins on umbilical cord, given herbs, etc.

    HOW TO CLEAN UMBILICAL CORD


    1. Wash your hands. 2. Use stemmed cotton that has been spiked with alcohol 70% or sterile gauze soaked in alcohol 70%. 3. Clean the cord stump, especially the base. 4. Let the umbilical cord dry out, then cover loosely with sterile gauze, clean and dry. 5. Gauze pads replaced every time after the baby take a bath, sweat, exposed to dirt and wet . 6. Wear a diaper under the umbilical cord

    UMBILICAL CORD CARE TIPS IN ORDER TO DRY FAST AND OFF

As long as the umbilical cord has not been off, babies should not be bathed by dipped or soaked in water, simply wipe with warm water. The umbilical cord should not be closed tightly. Make sure the base of the the umbilical cord can be freely exposed to air. When babies use disposable diapers, choose a special for the newborn. Do not wear pants or a jumpsuit on the baby before the the umbilical cord off. After the umbilical cord off, do not need any treatment or special treatment, but do not forget to clean the umbilical, bathing as usual, leave the umbilical area open and no longer need to be wrapped.
