West Orange Launches Back-to-School Social Media Campaign Online Photo/Video Contest Showcases One Community
September 9, 2013 WEST ORANGE, NJ To coincide with the beginning of the 20132014 school year, Mayor Robert D. Parisi today launched Back-to-School in West Orange, an innovative, community-wide social media program offering residents a chance to win an iPad by posting photographs and videos of students and families going back-to-school. For the entire month of September, community members and residents are encouraged to share their photos and videos via three of the Internets most popular social networking sites by tagging the official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles for West Orange (@westorangeinfo) and using the hashtag #back2schoolwo. Participants are encouraged to Like, Favorite and comment on all photos and videos. Submissions will automatically be entered to win an iPad, courtesy of Weichert Realtors, located in West Orange, NJ. As a local business, we live and work in West Orange so we feel its important to get involved and support the Townships efforts to bring the entire community together, Weichert Sales Manager Justin Wrobel said. This fun and easy photo contest is a unique way to showcase our family-friendly town. The Back-to-School campaign is part of a series of social media promotions tailored to cultivate an ongoing conversation with residents and businesses and encourage active participation within the community. The campaign runs from September 9-30, 2013. The winner of the iPad will be chosen at random and will be announced the week of October 7, 2013. Theres always a feeling of excitement in the air when school starts, Parisi said. We have more than 7,000 students in West Orange and theres no better way to show off our town than to see the smiling faces of children and their families beginning a new school year as one community. ### Media Contact: Jessica Glicker, Public Information Officer jglicker@westorange.org / 973-325-4133
