ABSTRACT

The project aims to design a battery charger which prevents overcharging of battery.When the battery is overcharged the battery life span of operation is severely affected and it could also be dangerous as it may lead to an explosion of the battery in critical conditions. This charger for series-connected 4-cell AA batteries automatically disconnects from mains to stop charging when the batteries are fully charged. It can be used to charge partially discharged cells as well. This device enhances the battery life and this device is portable and can be fixed inside a simple battery charger available in the market.
