Cooper-Sadlo, MSW DSM-5: FOCUS ON CHILDREN


Course Description: The introduction of the DSM-5 has created the need for clinicians and agencies to alter the current manner in which diagnoses are formulated. This presentation will provide information regarding the changes to this system as well as explore the implications for interventions utilized by clinicians working with children and families. Learning Objectives: 1. Identify categories & changes in DSM-5. 2. Explore impact of DSM-5 for social workers serving children and families. 3. Prepare steps to take to be prepared for DSM-5 implementation. This workshop is open to all clinical staff. Attendees will receive 3 hours of Continuing Education hours.

Presenter
Shannon Cooper-Sadlo MSW/LCSW, Assistant Clinical Professor, currently teaches BSSW level practice courses and serves as a faculty liaison in the field education department. Shannon is a graduate of the Saint Louis University BSSW program and of the University of Denver MSW program. She has been in clinical practice with various populations for 12 years. In these positions, she has had significant experience with the dually diagnosed populations in hospitals and community mental health settings.
