Charro Days was started in 1938 by Brownsville business owners during the great depression to help people feel

happier during the hard times. When we celebrate Charro Days, we honor the two cultures that are present in our border town. Many people dress in traditional Mexican clothing, and we honor the Charros, Mexican cowboys who were the heroes of the border. There are parades, dances, and carnivals, all to help us celebrate our Mexican roots and come together with our Mexican neighbors.
