The London theatres

My presentation is about the theatres in London. I will list a few theatres and tell you more about the buildings. London is very popular for its culture and its theatre. We are going to start with the most famous theatre, namely: the Globe Theatre. William Shakespeare staged his most famous plays there and he was also one of its owners. But sadly, it is not the same building as in 1599, because the Puritans tore it down. In 1997, a man named Sam Wanamaker, rebuilt the theatre and that`s why it stands today. A great traditions is that if you don`t like the play, you can shout it out like the people did it 400 years ago. The next theatre is the Royal Opera house. Of course it`s famous for its Royal Opera, but also for its Royal Ballet. You can find the theatre in Covent Garden and I have to say, this opera house is the most significant opera house in Britain. The Lyceum Theater is very important for us, because were going to see The Lion King there. It`s an West End Theatre like most of the theatres in London and The Lion King has been playing there since 1997. A really interesting fact is that every play or musical is tested in London to see if the people like it. After that it is going to perform on Broadway. My last building is not a real theatre. It`s a museum of horrible history. You know what Im talking about: the London Dungeon. London`s weirdest place was built in 1974. Imagine, this building under the subway station London Bridge contains the whole gory story of London. There are wax figures of Jack the Ripper, Bloody Mary and other people.

This was my presentation about the London theatres, I hope you enjoyed it!
