State of the Minneapolis Mayoral Race

Interested Parties To: From: GQR

Former Chairman of the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners Mark Andrew sits atop the field and holds a significant lead in a survey conducted among voters who are likely to vote in this Novembers Mayoral election. Andrew receives the highest favorable rating and largest vote share. Andrew leads with 27 percent, followed by Councilwoman Betsy Hodges with 18 percent and Councilman Don Samuels with 10 percent and former City Council President Jackie Cherryhomes with 5 percent support. A number of other candidates attract 1-4 percent of the vote. Andrews vote share grows to 31 percent after lower-performing candidates are dropped and votes are reallocated based on second and third choice selections. Andrew is also wellknown and popular among this electorate; 57 percent know him and his favorable-unfavorable rating is a very strong 34-7 percent, a nearly 5-1 ratio. Andrews support is broad and he leads among nearly every subgroup in the electorate. His support is highest among self-described liberals (33 percent), voters over the 50 years of age (31 percent) and he performs well among both men and women (26 percent and 28 percent, respectively). Andrew enters the fall with very good standing, high favorable ratings and broad support that produces a significant lead in the race for Mayor.
