PORTFOLIO ENTRY #9 INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION OF THE TEACHING AIDS WITH LABELS

I went to the different book stores in the city to find Teaching Aids to include in our Box, which might be useful to me as a future Biological Sciences Teacher. Little did I know that finding or searching a mere Chart or Illustration of Plant Cells and Animal Cells could be a disappointment even to the Expert Teachers, because not even one of the major bookstores has it. The best option I could think of is just the Print Screen View of the Interactive/Simulated Plant Cell and Animal Cells that we used in this Lesson Plan Demo Teaching. I realized that planning and choosing the best Teaching Aids or Instructional Materials to students can be tedious for a neophyte teacher; but with the aid of the Internet, the task is already halfway. Aside from these concerns, I should consider first and foremost, my LEARNERS. Modern students are technology and internet savvy, and as teachers, we must be at pace with them. Integrating Technology in our Lessons produce a Meaningful Experiential Learning for them to develop their Higher Order Skills. They like the idea of singing a Cell Rap, which actually aids them in Memory Recall of the Cell Organelles. They can have fun learning in a Classroom discussion in just a few clicks of the mouse and they can answer the online quiz as if just like playing Online Games. In addition, todays Learners have diverse Multiple Intelligences and Varied Learning Styles. Thus, a teacher should cater to these needs. For technologically behind students, traditional Instructional Materials such as charts (in our box),

pictures, videos, models, flashcards, mock-ups and puzzles; as well as concrete real life samples or specimens are very proven helpful to all Learners.
